About Mrs. Levi
If you’ve made it to this point, you’re apparently wondering who your teacher is, or, if you’re a parent, you might be wondering what type of person is teaching your child. Well, my name is Jennifer Levi, and I am going into my second year at Arlington High School. Previously, I taught at Bartlett High School (senior English), Treadwell Middle School (7th grade Language Arts), and The University of Memphis (freshman composition).
I graduated with honors from The University of Memphis with my Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in British Literature in May 2002. Not wasting any time, I immediately re-enrolled in the graduate program to begin my Master of Arts in English with a double concentration of British Literature and Technical/Professional Writing, which I received in 2004. Being a glutton for punishment, I then set out to obtain my teaching degree. I was awarded my teaching license in May of 2006, and I received my Master of Arts in Teaching in December of 2006. Throughout my eight years at the university, I was fortunate to hold various positions that I feel helped to embellish my teaching skills, such as tutoring in the Herff College of Engineering, holding the office of President of Sigma Tau Delta: The International English Honor Society, becoming a member of Kappa Delta Pi: The International Honor Society in Education, and teaching a few English 1020 classes to college freshmen. I have been very fortunate along the way, too, as I have met, philosophized with, and worked among some of the greatest teachers I have ever met. In the midst of all of that, the most incredible man entered my life, and we were married in October of 2005.
As early as the sixth grade, I knew I wanted to be an English teacher. Coming from a family of teachers, I began observing and mentally recording effective teaching practices early in life, and I am continually researching and observing new teaching practices in an effort to constantly better myself for the benefit of my students. I take what I do very seriously, and I am very proud to be an educator.
Upon accepting my teaching position at Arlington High School last year, I also signed on to sponsor the Dance Team. I love these girls so much! I really look forward to working with the Dance Team for years to come! Thus far, the ride has been amazing, and I’m so proud of all they’ve accomplished.
It has been my dream for quite some time to work within the Shelby County Schools System, and when I heard of Arlington High School’s construction, I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of their amazing team. I now wear navy and old gold with pride, and after years of being a Tiger, I feel right at home.
