Week of 26 October through 30 October

MONDAY:

  • Bellwork: None – prepare for test by making sure your notes are organized.
  • Middle Ages Test – you may use your Middle Ages outlines and any notes in your binder on this test.  Thank you for keeping your binders together and organized as requested.
  • Work on Vocabulary Unit 5 in the workbook when you’ve completed your test.
  • Homework: Finish Vocabulary Unit 5 – due Wednesday

TUESDAY:

  • Bellwork: Name one thing you already know about the Renaissance.
  • Introduce the Renaissance — Read pages 193-212 and create an outline for use on your Renaissance Test (coming up the week before Thanksgiving).
  • Mini-interims went home.  Students do NOT have to have these signed.  They were purely informative.  IF YOU HAVE ZEROES — you have until Friday, October 30th to get anything missing in for partial credit.
  • Homework: Vocabulary Unit 5 due tomorrow

  • Bellwork: How is the truce between Mordred and Arthur disturbed (according to “The Death of Arthur”)?

  • Answer questions 1-9 and a-d on page 149

THURSDAY:

  • Read Sir Gawain and the Green Knight excerpt, pages 158-167
  • Answer questions a-e on page 167 and write a brief summary of the story

FRIDAY:

  • Bellwork: What do you already know about the Arthurian Legends?

  • Arthurian Legends DVD

Week of 5 October through 9 October

MONDAY:

  • Bellwork: Why is the Knight listed first in the General Prologue and the first to talk?
  • Continue CT from Friday
  • Homework: Vocabulary Unit 3 – due Thursday and quiz Friday

TUESDAY:

Ms. Levi out of town.

  • Bellwork: By what devices does Chaucer reveal his characters?  (Refer to page 103.)
  • Continue reading the General Prologue as necessary to complete the assignments
  • Complete the “Characters in the Prologue” handout
  • Complete the “British Class Structure” handout
  • Complete questions 1-6 and a-d from page 127.  Finish for homework, if needed.

WEDNESDAY:

Ms. Levi out of town.

  • Bellwork: How do you think the people of Chaucer’s time responded to the character representations in The Canterbury Tales?  Pick one character from the General Prologue and provide your hypothesis.
  • Read “The Pardoner’s Tale” pages 129-136
  • Complete side one of the “Analyzing a Pilgrim” handout
  • Finish vocabulary unit 3, due tomorrow

THURSDAY:

  • Bellwork: How does Chaucer himself fit into the group?
  • Check Vocabulary Unit 3 and take a grade
  • Check questions from page 127 (1-6 and a-d)
